Peanut Butter Chocolate Gooey Butter Cake

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
Cake Base Construction:
Combine chocolate cake mix, 1/2 cup melted butter, and egg to form a thick batter. Press into the pan.
Filling Creation:
Blend cream cheese and peanut butter until smooth. Mix in eggs, vanilla, and melted butter. Gradually add powdered sugar, then fold in chocolate chips.
Assembly:
Spread filling over the cake base.
Baking:
Bake for 40-50 minutes until edges are firm but center is slightly gooey.
Cooling:
Allow to cool in the pan; the center will set but remain soft.
Ganache Topping Preparation:
Simmer heavy cream, then pour over chocolate and peanut butter. Let sit, then add butter and stir until smooth.
Serving:
Pour ganache over cooled cake, spread evenly, and allow to set before serving.
